Gastarbyter

Gastarbyter (1998) utilised mechanical and electronic interfaces to create a multi-modal experience linking audible and sub-sonic sound, physical vibration and a responsive mercury and neon lighting system. The chair interface was originally developed in collaboration with design and fabrication outfit JUGGERNAUT and No.1 Electronics, London. The installation used audio equipment from Jonty Harrison’s BEAST sound system.

A collaboration between Bruce Gilchrist, Jo Joelson and NZ based electro-acoustic composer, Dugal McKinnon.

An ICA Live Art Commission funded by Arts Council England.
